AUDIT SECTION

Internal Audit

The Audit Section provides department management with information about the adequacy and effectiveness of its systems of internal control and quality of operating performance when compared with established standards. To accomplish this responsibility, the Audit Section performs the following functions:

  • Conduct financial, compliance, electronic data processing, and performance audits in accordance with Section 20.055(4), Florida Statutes, and information security systems security audits in accordance with Section 282.318, Florida Statutes.
  • Assist the Investigations Section in conducting reviews related to fraud and employee misconduct, as needed.
  • Coordinate responses to reports issued by the Office of the Auditor General (OAG) and the Office of Program Policy Analysis and Government Accountability (OPPAGA), and follow-up findings and recommendations made by the OAG, OPPAGA, and OIG, and other oversight units.
  • Provide consulting and advisory services to management concerning performance measures and departmental policies and procedures.
  • Assess the reliability and validity of information provided by the Department on performance measures and standards.
