On December 21, 1983, General Insurance Company ("General") was placed into liquidation by Order of the
Second Judicial Circuit Court in and for Leon County, Florida ("Court"). The Florida Department of Financial Services was appointed
the Receiver of the General estate. The Order established a claims filing deadline of November 18, 1994.
On January 16, 2003, the Court approved the Second Interim Claims Report. Notices were mailed to 8,200 claimants
who filed a proof of claim in the General estate. The notice informed them of the Receiver’s recommendations concerning the
classification and amount of their claim, along with instructions on how to proceed if a claimant objected to the recommendations.
Objections were required to be filed by the claimant, in writing, with both the Court and the Receiver and postmarked by March 21, 2003.
Objections filed after that date were not considered. All filed objections have been resolved.
Due to additional assets being collected in this estate, a Third Interim Claims Report was filed with the Court.
On March 10, 2006, the Court entered an order approving the report. On March 21, 2006, the Receiver mailed notices to the 6,837 claimants who
filed a proof of claim in the estate and who had a change in the Receiver’s recommendations on their claims. The notice informed
them of the Receiver’s recommendation concerning the classification and amount of their claim along with instructions on how to
proceed if a claimant objects to the recommendations. Objections are required to be filed by the claimant, in writing, with both
the Court and the Receiver and must be postmarked by April 21, 2006. Objections filed after that date were not considered. All
filed objections have been resolved.
On November 8, 2006, the Court approved the Final Claims Report regarding a distribution of assets in this estate.
Under the terms of the Order, Class 1 and Class 2 claimants received a 100% distribution and Class 3 claimants received a 13.7398%
distribution of the adjudicated amounts on their claims. Distributions were mailed on December 18, 2006. There are insufficient assets to
make further distributions in this estate.
On June 28, 2007, the Court issued an Order that discharged the Florida Department of Financial Services of its
duties as Receiver of General effective June 30, 2007.
Pursuant to the Discharge Order, all undelivered distributions were sent to the
