Where should I report a new claim?

Consumers who need to report a claim may contact their agent or the Receiver at (800)-882-3054.

Note: Only claims against policies of Senior Citizens should be directed to the Receiver. Claims against all other companies should be directed to your agent of the involved company directly.

What is the status of my claim?

All processing and payment of covered claims will be made by the Florida Insurance Guaranty Association ("FIGA"). FIGA pays claims up to a maximum of $300,000 after applying a $100 statutory deductible.

How much will be paid on my claim?

FIGA will pay up to $300,000 on covered claims. All claims paid by FIGA are subject to a $100 statutory deductible. Claims that are not covered by FIGA may be considered claims in the estate of Senior Citizens Mutual Insurance Company. In order for any such claim to be considered timely filed, you should have completed a proof of claim form and returned it to the Receiver by the filing deadline which was June 2, 2006. Claims filed after the deadline will be assigned a lower priority.

Will my claim against a surplus lines policy be paid?

No, claims associated with surplus lines policies are not covered claims under FIGA. However you may file a claim against the estate by filing a proof of claim form.  Proof of claim forms were mailed to all known claimants on December 27, 2005.
