Division of Risk Management

Bureau of State Employees' Workers' Compensation Claims

During Fiscal Year 07-08, the Division of Risk Management provided workers’ compensation coverage to approximately 202,487 state employees, volunteers, and other statutorily mandated persons. The major categories of workers’ compensation benefits due covered persons who sustain a job related injury or illnesses are:

  • Medical Benefits

  • Indemnity Benefits

  • Death Benefits

Claims reported on or after January 1, 2009 should be reported to OptaComp at 1-877-518-2583. In a medical emergency, transport the injured employee to the nearest medical facility or call 911 for emergency assistance. Following the arrangement of emergency medical treatment for the injured employee, contact OptaComp at 1-877-518-2583.

If the injury does not require emergency treatment, contact OptaComp at 1-877-518-2583 immediately and prior to obtaining medical treatment. OptaComp will refer the injured employee to an appropriate medical provider from the OptaComp clinician panel. OptaComp provides this service 24 hours a day, seven days a week, 365 days a year. 

To determine whom to contact at Risk Management on a specific claim, please select from the following two menu items. For claims with a date of accident prior to 1/1/2009 select "WC Claim Assignment Prior 2009". For claims with a date of accident on or after 1/1/2009 select "WC Claim Assignment 2009".
