FIRESAFETY INSPECTOR I CERTIFICATION

To be certified as a Firesafety Inspector I in the State of Florida, an individual must successfully complete 200 hours of basic certification training for firesafety inspectors, or have received equivalent training in another state, and pass a state written examination. Documentation of training is to be submitted with the required Application for Firesafety Inspector Certification Examination (DFS-K4-1023), Personal Inquiry Waiver (DFS-K4-1020), along with all other supporting documents, at least 10 business days prior to the scheduled test date.

Please note, the required application requires a fingerprint card that must be obtained from the Bureau of Fire Standards. When submitting your application, be sure to include the required fingerprint card and processing fee. Please refer to Application and Fingerprint Card Instructions & Fee Information (DFS-K4-1019).

Five 40-hour courses are required for certification. A description of each course can be found by clicking the course title below. The courses are offered at the Florida State Fire College, Community and Junior Colleges through out the state, and some of the Certified Training Centers.

  4. FFP 2521       BLUEPRINT READING AND PLANS REVIEW
  5. FFP 1510       CODES AND STANDARDS

 

STATE STATUTE 633.081 addresses inspection of buildings and equipment; orders; firesafety inspection training requirements; certification; and disciplinary actions.
