FROM: Douglas
A. Darling, Director
Division of
Accounting and Auditing
Department of Financial Services
SUBJECT: Contract and Grant
Management Training for Service Providers
The Bureau of Auditing has provided training to key agency
contract and grant managers for the past two years. The training has been well
received by the attendees and we continue to receive positive feedback. Recently there has been an interest by
recipients/sub-recipients of state and federal financial assistance and other
providers of client services to attend the class. We welcome the opportunity to provide
training to these non-state entities. We
have developed a new training class titled “Advancing Accountability”
specifically for them.
We ask each State agency to join us in advancing
accountability over the use of state funds by contacting these service
providers to promote this training program.
The training program was developed to help non-state entities perform
and document program and fiscal requirements of their projects in a manner that
ensures accountability over state resources and prevent delays in payments. Key
managers and other staff responsible for establishing organizational policies
and procedures for the administration of agreements with the State should
attend. State funds may be used for
travel expenses incurred for this training in accordance with Section 112.061,
Florida Statutes, if such expenditures are allowable per the agreement and
applicable laws, rules, and regulations and approved by the funding state
agency.
Training sessions will be held on January 26, February 23,
March 23, April 20, May 25, June 22, July 27, August 24, September 28, and
October 26, 2005. Classes will be from 9
AM to 3 PM at the Betty
Easley Conference
Center. Service providers may register for a class by
contacting Suzette Harris at 850-410-9194, Suncom 210-9194 or suzette.harris@fldfs.com.
