Frequently Asked Questions About Auto Extended Warranties

Back to FAQ categories

1) I purchased an automobile extended warranty policy. The auto repair shop states that I must pay them first and seek reimbursement from the warranty. Is this correct?

If it states in your contract that you are to pay for services rendered and seek reimbursement from the company, the shop’s position is correct.

2) My auto warranty company is denying my claim for repair based on improper maintenance. What does that mean?

All auto warranties require you to maintain your vehicle properly. "Proper maintenance" is based on manufacturer’s recommendations. Failure to perform these maintenance items and keep records of when they were done could result in claim denial, if the failed part is related to the servicing of the vehicle.

3) Do I have to have prior approval from my warranty company before repairs can be made?

Most contracts require prior approval. Review your contract.
