TALLAHASSEE – Florida Chief Financial Officer Jeff Atwater today released the following statement regarding the passing of former Florida Governor Claude Kirk, Jr.

“Today, we not only lost a statesman, but a part of Florida’s history. Governor Claude Kirk was a pioneer and the first Republican Governor in Florida since reconstruction. He was a man who stood by his values and principles even when he stood alone. He was an authentic leader who was comfortable with who he was and where he could take us. These are the kinds of attributes that we should strive to emulate today. My thoughts and prayers go out to his family during this difficult time.”
