TALLAHASSEE—Florida Chief Financial Officer Jeff Atwater’s Department of Financial Services in partnership with state Senator Gwen Margolis (D-Miami) will hold a free Women’s Small Business Workshop in Ft. Lauderdale on Friday, Oct. 14 as part of Women’s Small Business Month.

The workshop will be held:

8 a.m. - 12 p.m.
Nova Southeastern University,
Carl DeSantis Building, Grand Room #3000

As part of a new financial education campaign, Your Money Matter$, the Women’s Small Business workshops will provide financial education for women small business owners with the goal of having a positive impact on the financial success of the participants, which in turn will have a positive effect on the overall economy.

Haven’t started your business yet?  Not a woman business owner?  That’s okay.  CFO Atwater welcomes any small business owner to participate in these workshops.

CFO Atwater’s Your Money Matter$ initiative will also focus on assisting Florida’s senior population and military members and their families.  These events will be announced in coming months.

Chief Financial Officer Jeff Atwater, a statewide elected official and officer of the Florida Cabinet, oversees the Department of Financial Services.  CFO Atwater’s priorities include fighting financial fraud, abuse and waste in government, reducing government spending and regulatory burdens that chase away businesses, and providing transparency and accountability in spending.
